So, it's self reflection week for me. The past 12 weeks have been interesting to say the least. There have been some moments when I had no clue what to take pictures of and got very discouraged. My patience was tested pretty much every week in some way. Whether it be with myself or the lighting or what I was trying to take pictures of, it was pretty tough to keep my cool. But at least this journey is over and I had some fun while doing it. I may have even found a new hobby.

So basically, this week wasn't my most productive week ever but I did work on the website instead of taking pictures or rather than not doing anything. I finished putting the pictures up on here and organized them in an aesthetically pleasing way. My bad for not taking any this week.
So after I got my pictures on the computer, I had to put them in a specific order that made sense chronologically and aesthetically. Go check them out!
I think I will try to take some more pictures next week or the following even though I surpassed my original goal for each of the categories. It was a long time coming but I finally sat down and figured out how to upload pictures onto the website and have picked out which pictures I want to put up on here. Next week I will actually upload them in a good order that's relatively aesthetically pleasing.
So this last Saturday was prom and my sister Emma went with her friend Kellen. She was originally going to go with her boyfriend Sammy but they broke up like 3 weeks ago. But I still took pictures.
Lisa Dunn is a photographer near Advance who works at the same school as my mom. She offered to help us out with the photoshoot and let me "shadow" her so I could get a better idea of what kind of lighting and exposures to use. We took a decent amount of pictures at our house in front of our aesthetically pleasing wood pile (it sounds worse and less cute than it was). Emma and Kellen both looked really great in their basically matching outfits and I got some really good shots. Over Spring Break, my boyfriend Caleb and I went up to Pilot Mountain. We kind of just wanted to go on a hike anyway and I decided that I would bring the camera with me so I could take some cool pictures on the mountain.
We started at the top and got your typical "oh look we're on a mountain" kind of picture and then we started on a trail. Now this was my first experience hiking on Pilot Mountain so neither of us had any prior knowledge about any of the trails. So we got lost. For like an hour or so which was super fun. But I got some pretty pictures of a little waterfall and of the rocks and trees that were up there. My bad. I didn't really take a lot of (any) pictures this week because it was a super stressful week. We had 3 softball games this week and I had quite a few tests and quizzes that I had to focus on. In addition, my sister, mom and I all went on several college tours since Emma is a junior and will be applying to college in the fall. I promise I'll take more in the coming weeks and will continue to work on uploading them to my computer at home so I can post some.
Okay, so this week wasn't too great for me and picture taking. I tried to take some pictures outside of some flowers and birds but it just wasn't happening. In pretty much every picture, the sun/lighting was off or the object was out of focus. This was very frustrating for me because I like for everything to be perfect and I am not a very patient person.
So this week I didn't take any new pictures because it was a super chaotic week and weekend for me. My busy schedule kind of got in the way and I wasn't able to go anywhere to take any. But, I wasn't completely useless. I came up with some places and people that I will photograph in the following weeks.
So for my people, I already have some of my boyfriend from Week 1 but we'll probably go on a hike next week and take some pretty pictures there. My friend Mallie (who is actually in Mr. Barker's 2nd period) and I will be going to Winston to take some super artsy pictures in a couple weeks. Finally, my sister Emma and her boyfriend Sammy will be having a photoshoot for prom when that happens. They will be taken by a photographer who is friends with my mother so I can "shadow" her while she takes her pictures and take tips/pointers from her to improve. So for this weekend’s photoshoot, my mom and I were travelling to Durham anyway and decided to go to Duke Gardens. We froze our butts off but we managed to get some pretty good pictures from the gardens and adjacent trails. There were a lot of people there though so there may be some people in several of the shots but most shouldn’t have strangers in them. The gorgeous trees and flowers as well as the lighting on this day really improved the quality of the photos taken.
I am still trying to figure out how to upload some of the pictures from the last two weeks. My computer is ancient and my mom has never uploaded pictures onto mine before. So we’ll see how long it takes for me to actually put some pictures up on the website. Hopefully I can figure it out at some point this week. |
